I'd just like to start by saying this is something to think deeply about. Consider all possible connections it has to you and others you may know.
"Years to create, seconds to destroy"
I find this applies to almost everything; friends, pieces of art, personalities, reputations... everything, even if the connection isn't apparent right away. As an example, I can think of two words that could ruin the majority of my friendships that I've taken so long to cultivate (yes I am that loser-ish). In some ways, friendships are created in seconds, and destroyed over a few years. It can be taken either way. What I'm trying to say is, it's hard to make something, and hard to create. Once something is gone, it's either impossible or very difficult to regain.
Now for something personal. Currently one of my best friends in the whole WORLD, is moving away. As you can imagine I am sad about this. It took me so long to build up a friendship with this person (sharing secrets, being able to tell her anything). In seconds, a decision was made by one of her father's bosses that would take her more than a thousand miles away from me. Years and years it took me to finally get to that stage of friendship (which I've got with almost no one) and in that split-second decision, she was taken away.
There's one more thing I'd like to share. i'm not sure who it was from originally, but I heard it and I liked it.
"You have to lose people to know just how much you miss them"
